Find graduation and ceremony information on your university’s official registrar, graduation, commencement or convocation website. Use the current pages for NUS graduation, NTU Convocation, SMU Commencement, SUTD Commencement, SIT Convocation or SUSS degree and transcript information.
Check three separate milestones: completing academic requirements, the university formally conferring the award, and attending a ceremony. The dates and conditions may differ. An invitation or ceremony registration is not a substitute for the university’s academic decision that the degree has been completed and conferred.
Did you know official documents may follow a different timetable from the ceremony? Universities publish their own arrangements for degree scrolls, transcripts, digital records and collection. Start with your official university email and student portal, then confirm the current cohort page before booking travel or promising a document date.

Separate completion, conferment and celebration
Academic completion means the student has satisfied the programme’s requirements under the university’s rules. Conferment is the formal award recorded by the university. Commencement or Convocation is the ceremony. Families often use “graduation” for all three, but the official pages may use the words precisely.
NUS, for example, publishes conferment and Commencement eligibility on its registrar page. NTU says ceremony eligibility depends on the university formally determining that degree requirements have been fulfilled by the stated cut-off. Follow your own university’s decision and cohort rules rather than copying another institution’s dates.
Track documents and ceremony tasks on separate checklists
Ceremony tasks may include confirming eligibility, registering attendance, checking the assigned session, ordering academic dress and reading guest instructions. Document tasks may include checking the official name, delivery or collection method, and when the degree scroll and transcript become available.
These timelines need not match. NTU publishes a separate route for graduates who do not attend Convocation to collect official documents. SUSS publishes cohort-specific arrangements for printed and digital degree documents. Treat the live university page and official email as the controlling instructions.
