How Do I Check Whether a Private Education Institution Is Registered in Singapore? | PEI Listing, EduTrust and Courses

Check a Singapore private education institution in the regulator’s official Private Education Institution listing. Search the institution’s exact name, then confirm the matching registration details and use the permitted-course search for the particular programme you are considering.

Check more than the school name. Match the institution, registration information, course title, study mode, course level and awarding body shown in the official listing against the contract or offer. Similar names, partner-university branding and marketing descriptions can hide important differences.

Did you know registration is not the same as government accreditation? The official private-education FAQ says registration does not accredit the institution or guarantee the quality or recognition of its courses. Acceptance of a qualification belongs to the receiving university, employer or relevant professional body.

Check the institution and the course separately

An institution can be the right legal entity while the course description in an advertisement still needs checking. The official listing lets families search permitted courses and filter by features such as course level, full-time or part-time study, and who awards the certificate. Use those details to compare like with like.

Record the institution’s exact name and registration information, then compare the course title and awarding body with the student contract. If the course is delivered with a foreign partner, do not assume the partner name alone identifies who admits the student, provides the teaching or awards the final qualification.

Keep registration, EduTrust and recognition in separate boxes

Registration places the PEI within the private-education regulatory framework. EduTrust is a separate quality-assurance scheme covering areas that include governance, student protection, support and academic systems. Neither label is a promise that a particular university, employer or professional regulator will accept a qualification for its own purpose.

For foreign students, school admission and immigration permission are also separate decisions. ICA states that only EduTrust-certified PEIs can offer placements to foreign students through the Student’s Pass route described on its PEI page. An offer from a school is not itself immigration approval.

Use our Student’s Pass guide for the immigration route, and our degree-recognition guide when the real question is whether a qualification will be accepted.

What to check before enrolling

If a marketing statement and the official listing do not match, pause and ask the institution to explain the exact legal entity and permitted course in writing. Verify again on the official portal rather than relying on a recruiter’s screenshot.

Your next step

Search the institution in the PEI Listing, open the permitted-course result and save the matching details. Compare them line by line with the offer and contract. Then check EduTrust, qualification recognition and immigration only where each is relevant to your student’s actual plan.

A Science fact is remembered, but the explanation is incomplete.

Connect the evidence to a scientific idea and the resulting change. Follow the Primary Science learning route.
