Where Can Singapore Graduates Verify European Digital Credentials for Learning?

For a European Digital Credential for Learning, start with Europass’s official learner guidance and follow its link to the EDC Viewer. Open the credential from your Europass wallet or upload your original credential file to inspect it. This route is for an EDC, not a universal checker for every scanned certificate.

Use the viewer’s authentication and verification information alongside the credential’s issuer and learning details. Europass’s verification guidance explains the checks and the difference between an overall verified outcome and a partially verified one. Read the individual result, not only the badge.

Did you know? Checking a digital record’s authenticity is a different question from whether it satisfies a university’s entry requirements. Keep the receiving institution’s document checklist beside the result. For a different explanatory document, use our Diploma Supplement guide rather than treating the two names as interchangeable.

What should I check when viewing a European digital credential?

Separate the record, the technical checks and the purpose for which you are submitting it. You can organise these as three questions: is this my document, what does the viewer confirm, and what does the recipient require?

Confirm that you have the right kind of record

Europass describes EDCs as natively digital records issued to document learning, including degrees, training and participation. Its current learner instructions identify the original credential file as JSON-LD, rather than a photograph of a paper certificate.

Check the institution’s original message and the award title before selecting a file. If you only have a scan, ask the issuing institution whether it supplies an EDC or uses a different verification system. Do not rename a scan or edit a file extension to make it appear compatible.

Read the checks alongside the actual details

The verification guidance lists checks including format, seal, owner, revocation, accreditation and validity. It explains that an expired or altered credential can produce a failed check, and that the viewer provides a description of the outcome. Some checks have particular relevance to particular credentials.

Write down the exact check and message if something is unclear. Then compare the holder, issuer and award details with the record you expected. A useful enquiry identifies the document and the displayed problem; simply saying the website does not work gives the issuing office much less to investigate.

Use the current sharing route and protect the original

Europass’s learner guidance says not to share the original JSON-LD file. It describes wallet-based share links and PDF exports, with access-expiry choices. Follow its current Sharing my EDC section rather than assuming an ordinary email attachment is the intended submission method.

Ask the receiving institution which route it accepts, then choose a sharing period that fits its review process. Keep the application reference and the date you shared it in your own notes. Share personal educational records through the recipient’s official channel, not publicly while asking for troubleshooting help.

Send the question to the office that can answer it

If the credential’s content is wrong, Europass directs holders to the issuing institution: a correction requires reissue, not editing the credential yourself. For a wallet or viewing problem, its learner page links to the Europass Helpdesk.

For admission, ask the receiving university what evidence it requires and whether anything remains outstanding. A successful document check cannot answer every course-selection question. Our overseas university application requirements guide routes you to those instructions; the Diploma Supplement explanation helps when the request concerns an award’s academic context instead.

What should I do next?

Identify the original record, open it through the official Europass route and read the individual check outcomes. If there is a problem, send the exact message to the appropriate issuing or support office. Then confirm how the receiving university wants the evidence supplied and keep that task separate from its admission assessment.

Take one question further

The same learning habit can travel across subjects, while each subject keeps its own methods. These routes help you notice a difficulty, understand one part of it, and return to something you can do.

A word is familiar, but using it is difficult.

Move from recognising a word to retrieving it in a new context. Understand vocabulary plateaus.

Try it without the guide: Choose one word you already know. Close the guide and use it in a new sentence. Explain why it fits; try another context tomorrow.

A piece of writing has ideas, but the reader loses the thread.

Make the order of events and the links between sentences clear. Explore composition writing.

Try it without the guide: Choose one short paragraph. Read the relevant explanation, close it, and revise the paragraph. Ask someone to tell you what happened and why.

The Mathematics seems familiar, but marks still disappear.

Find the first point where the working stops being reliable. Find Secondary 4 A-Math mark leakage.

Try it without the guide: For a Secondary 4 A-Math question you have attempted, locate the first uncertain line. Repair that step, then try a comparable question without the worked answer.

A Science fact is remembered, but the explanation is incomplete.

Connect the evidence to a scientific idea and the resulting change. Follow the Primary Science learning route.

Try it without the guide: Choose a familiar Primary Science example. Explain the evidence, the idea and the result without notes. Then change one condition and explain your prediction.

Two accounts of the world seem to disagree.

Check the question, source, date and evidence before combining claims. Explore the World Knowledge research library.

Try it without the guide: Take one claim. Find the source best placed to support it, note its date, and state what remains uncertain. Return to your original question.

There is plenty of help, but independence is hard to see.

Check what the learner can understand and do after support is removed. Understand how education works.

Try it without the guide: Choose one small task the child has practised. Agree on a calm, brief attempt without prompts. Use what happens to choose one next step, then stop.
