Did you know? ETS’s Sending Your TOEFL iBT Scores page explains how to select recipients and order additional official reports through your ETS account. Start there after confirming the university’s accepted test version and reporting requirement.
For the current July 2026–June 2027 cycle, the TOEFL iBT Information Bulletin says the included recipient choices can be changed until 10pm, local test-centre time, on the day before the test. Check this before assuming you can decide after seeing your result.
There is another important decision: ETS restricts Speaking/Writing score reviews once you have requested score delivery to an institution or agency. Read that rule before selecting recipients or ordering reports, then verify the destination and the university’s evidence deadline.

How to check a TOEFL reporting plan
Find out what the university needs to receive
Keep the exact course, entry year and applicant qualification beside the English-language instruction. Ask whether the university needs an official ETS report at application, after an offer or at another stated stage. A request to enter a result in a form does not by itself answer that question.
For accepted tests, section requirements and possible exemptions, use the existing English-language requirements guide. This article concerns delivery. Sending a report does not confirm that its score, age or test version meets the programme’s conditions.
Make recipient choices before the relevant cutoff
The bulletin distinguishes included reports from additional orders. Copy the intended recipient information carefully and verify it against the institution’s instructions. If a time-zone or account instruction is unclear, ask ETS before relying on a last-minute change.
Do not assume a later order can simply be edited. The current bulletin says designated institutions cannot be changed or deleted after an additional-report order is placed, and those orders are non-refundable. Review the destination and current charge before confirming anything.
Check score-review consequences before authorising delivery
ETS’s reporting page and current bulletin both link sending scores with restrictions on Speaking/Writing reviews. Read the current policy while you still have a choice, not only after a disappointing result. If you have already designated a recipient, ask ETS which options remain available.
A score review, a retest and an additional report solve different problems. Write down which one you are considering and why. There is no need to turn a reporting guide into a prediction that a review will improve a result or that a university will extend its deadline.
Allow time for the receiving system
ETS gives approximate delivery periods that vary with the institution’s delivery method. Its bulletin also limits reporting to the score-validity period. Neither a downloadable student PDF nor an account notification should be treated as confirmation that an admissions office has received official evidence.
Keep the request record and check the university’s portal using its stated follow-up process. If a checklist is still outstanding, provide the test date and order details through the instructed channel. For interpreting a revised score report, use the separate 2026 score-scale guide rather than inventing a conversion.
What should students check now?
Put the university’s evidence requirement beside the current ETS reporting instructions. Confirm the destination, timing and review implications before submitting a request. After ordering, retain the record and check institutional receipt separately from the release of scores to your own account.
