Where Can IB Diploma Students Check Re-marking and Enquiry Upon Results Rules?

Did you know? An IB Diploma Programme candidate who wants an examination re-mark should start with the International Baccalaureate’s official assessment FAQ and their school’s DP coordinator. The process is called an enquiry upon results (EUR). Only the school can submit the request; candidates and parents cannot send a re-mark application directly to the IB.

Check the examination session, subject, request deadline, service category, fee and consent with your coordinator. The IB explains that a re-mark may raise or lower a subject grade, so written candidate or guardian consent is required. An enquiry is not a promise that a grade will change.

If the result affects a university offer, read the university’s actual conditions while the school checks the enquiry. The IB transcript FAQ says the IB sends updated transcripts to institutions that previously received them when grades change. Still tell your university about a time-sensitive issue through its instructed admissions channel.

How families can approach the decision

Contact the coordinator before discussing a fee

Ask for the exact EUR service available for the assessment component, the school’s last date for submitting it, the applicable charge and any forms needed. The official IB FAQ says enquiries are not free and that the coordinator must explain the fee. The detail can depend on examination session and service, so avoid an undated price posted in an online group.

If the candidate completed exams at an IB World School in Singapore, the DP or CP coordinator is the correct first contact. Changing schools after graduation does not turn the candidate into a direct IB re-mark applicant; ask the examining school for the procedure.

Understand that a re-mark can change the grade in either direction

A low margin above a boundary can be just as relevant to the decision as a small gap below the next boundary. The IB may make detailed scaled-mark and grade-boundary information available through the candidate website, at the coordinator’s discretion. Look at the actual evidence rather than treating every result below a hoped-for grade as an error.

The candidate or guardian must give written consent because a grade can go down as well as up. Make that decision knowing how either outcome could affect a university condition or an IB Diploma award. Ask the school which other review or return-of-work services apply to the specific subject.

Keep university deadlines on a separate clock

Universities determine what they will do if examination results are under review. If a programme has a conditional offer, record the course, offer requirement and evidence deadline. Contact admissions through its official applicant portal and ask how it handles a pending EUR; do not assume that a re-mark request extends an offer deadline.

The IB says changed grades appear on the candidate website after completion. For universities already sent official transcripts, the IB explains that it issues an updated transcript without a new student order. This does not remove the need to communicate with a university whose selection deadline is approaching.

Protect your candidate details

Candidate login credentials come through the coordinator. The IB cautions students not to share their personal codes or PINs with universities. Official transcript delivery is the proper evidence route; a forwarded screenshot may not meet an institution’s policy.

If the school cannot find a login or the candidate has left, start with that school’s current coordinator rather than trying to obtain access through an unofficial website. The school remains the operational contact for your examination record.

Your next step

Email your coordinator the subject, examination session and the precise result you want reviewed. Ask for the available EUR category, fee, written-consent requirement and deadline. Check the university condition separately if the answer could change an offer.
