Begin with NTU Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine’s (LKCMedicine) MBBS entry requirements. This is the official source for qualification-specific academic prerequisites, the University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT), personal statement, referee reports and later health or declaration requirements.
Then read LKCMedicine’s How to Apply guide. It separates registering for UCAT from applying through NTU’s portal, explains that Medicine must be the first choice in the university application, and describes the next stages for shortlisted candidates.
Did you know? An undergraduate MBBS application to NTU LKCMedicine is not the same as a graduate-entry Doctor of Medicine application to Duke-NUS. The former uses UCAT and NTU’s own selection process; the latter requires an existing or final-year bachelor’s degree and uses MCAT or GAMSAT. Choose the correct medical school before arranging any admissions test.

Practical checks before you act
Which qualification route and science subjects apply?
LKCMedicine lists a Singapore-Cambridge A-Level route requiring a pass in H2 Chemistry and H2 Biology or Physics. Its IB pathway describes HL Chemistry together with HL Biology or Physics; other routes include an eligible health-science-related polytechnic diploma, NUS High School Diploma and specified international qualifications. The full qualification requirements contain other conditions that should be checked before applying.
The school says predicted examination results are not accepted for admission under the usual undergraduate route. Do not copy NUS or an overseas medical school’s document rules into an NTU application. For a less common qualification, use the NTU Office of Admissions instructions and the LKCMedicine FAQ for clarification.
When should I take UCAT and where do results go?
The admissions guide says a UCAT result must fall in the relevant twelve-month window before the application, and its example for AY2026–27 refers to a test taken in 2025. Use the official UCAT Consortium calendar for the current test year instead of repeating that example as a 2027 deadline.
When registering, follow LKCMedicine’s directions to indicate the school as a receiving university, then include your unique UCAT ID in NTU’s application. The FAQ discusses UCAT and UCAT ANZ; candidates considering Australian or New Zealand programmes should check that distinction carefully, because duplicate sitting rules apply.
What goes into the NTU application?
NTU’s guide describes academic results, a personal statement, and two referee reports, including an appropriate school or academic mentor for the applicant’s qualification category. Medicine must be placed first in the NTU programme preferences for consideration by LKCMedicine.
If using Aptitude-Based Admissions, check its separate evidence and appraisal requirements. These allow applicants to explain authentic strengths and achievements but do not waive the minimum academic requirements. A list of activities cannot replace a truthful account of preparation and service.
How are interviews and offers decided?
LKCMedicine says shortlisted applicants attend Multiple Mini Interviews (MMIs), with the selection process considering motivation, teamwork, communication and realistic understanding of the profession. The school’s FAQ says UCAT-related shortlisting varies with the strength of each annual applicant cohort; a past score distribution is not a guaranteed qualifying mark.
The eventual MBBS offer comes through NTU’s Office of Admissions and is distinct from a shortlist invitation. Read current instructions on health screening, any required declarations and final document verification. For a completely different graduate-entry pathway, see our Duke-NUS graduate-entry MD source guide; the medicine, law and dentistry admissions overview offers wider degree comparisons.
Your next step
Confirm the entry year and your precise academic route. Check UCAT booking rules for that year, follow LKCMedicine’s score-reporting instructions, and prepare genuine examples for the application. Use the official NTU portal rather than assuming a UCAT registration is a submitted university application.
To compare JC, polytechnic and university pathways, visit the Singapore School Pathways and Calendar, then return to NTU for the decisive requirements and offer instructions.
