Where Can I Check Duke-NUS Doctor of Medicine Admission Requirements?

Start with Duke-NUS Medical School’s Doctor of Medicine (MD) requirements if your goal is graduate-entry medicine in Singapore. This is a route for someone who has completed, or is in the final year of, a bachelor or honours degree—not the ordinary undergraduate medical-school application undertaken immediately after JC or polytechnic.

The university requires suitable MCAT or GAMSAT results and an official MD application, together with references and academic records. The school also publishes extra standards for applicants with overseas degrees or non-English-language education. Match each requirement to your own educational history before registering for a test.

Did you know? Duke-NUS expressly states that applicants with an MBBS qualification or equivalent are not eligible to apply for this MD route. Its admissions guidance describes the MD and MD-PhD as different applications; do not apply for both simultaneously as though the second were simply another preference on one undergraduate form.

What to check before you apply

Confirm that this is graduate-entry medicine

The Duke-NUS MD is a four-year medical degree reached after undergraduate education. The official prerequisites allow applicants who already hold a bachelor’s or honours degree as well as students in their final year. The undergraduate discipline does not have to be medicine, but every applicant still faces academic and non-academic selection.

Do not confuse this pathway with applying for an undergraduate MBBS programme after A-Levels or the IB Diploma. Duke-NUS explicitly excludes people who already have an MBBS or equivalent from applying for its MD. An application may be considered holistically, but being eligible to submit is not an admission promise.

Choose MCAT or GAMSAT and check score validity

Duke-NUS accepts either MCAT or GAMSAT as an admission examination. Its application instructions specify different score-validity periods and explain how official scores reach the university. It does not permit combining individual sections from separate tests, so the student’s planning should account for a complete valid sitting.

Check the official AAMC MCAT or ACER GAMSAT registration pages linked by Duke-NUS for testing centres, dates and test policies. You may register for the Duke-NUS application account before the score is ready, but must follow the university’s submission and notification instructions. Do not budget or apply based on an unofficial claimed cut-off.

Prepare academic evidence and strong references

The university asks for three to five references, typically from professors, mentors or employers, with at least one academic referee specified in the application guide. Invite people who can describe actual research, learning, service, team decisions or integrity, rather than simply someone with an impressive title.

Applicants with undergraduate qualifications from institutions outside Singapore or the US may need a World Education Services evaluation as specified in the admissions requirements, with particular handling for Canadian qualifications. Applicants educated in non-English curricula should check the university’s official English-language evidence requirements.

Do not forget current dates and professional conditions

Duke-NUS’s timeline says applications to the current programme cycle opened in June 2026, with an early consideration point in September and a January final deadline under its current guidance. Identify the intended class year and read the portal’s actual opening and closing notice before relying on a calendar date.

Medical education also involves technical standards, potential health screening and post-graduation service commitments described by the university. These are separate from a test score and should be understood before an applicant accepts an offer. Ask the official admissions team about a personal qualification or accommodations question rather than drawing a conclusion from another student’s experience.

Your next step

Create an MD-specific checklist: bachelor’s degree or final-year status, one accepted entrance exam, referees, academic transcripts, any language or credential evaluation, and the correct cycle’s application deadline. Open the admissions portal only when ready to submit accurate supporting information.

For earlier education stages and alternatives, follow the Singapore schools and universities directory and Singapore school pathways and calendar. They explain routes leading towards university; Duke-NUS remains the authority for its graduate MD application.

The same learning habit can travel across subjects, while each subject keeps its own methods. These routes help you notice a difficulty, understand one part of it, and return to something you can do.

A word is familiar, but using it is difficult.

Move from recognising a word to retrieving it in a new context. Understand vocabulary plateaus.

Try it without the guide: Choose one word you already know. Close the guide and use it in a new sentence. Explain why it fits; try another context tomorrow.

Try it without the guide: For a Secondary 4 A-Math question you have attempted, locate the first uncertain line. Repair that step, then try a comparable question without the worked answer.

A Science fact is remembered, but the explanation is incomplete.

Connect the evidence to a scientific idea and the resulting change. Follow the Primary Science learning route.

Try it without the guide: Choose a familiar Primary Science example. Explain the evidence, the idea and the result without notes. Then change one condition and explain your prediction.

Two accounts of the world seem to disagree.

Check the question, source, date and evidence before combining claims. Explore the World Knowledge research library.

Try it without the guide: Take one claim. Find the source best placed to support it, note its date, and state what remains uncertain. Return to your original question.
