Start with the UCAT Consortium’s official preparation resources. The site provides free materials, including a preparation plan, a tour tutorial, question tutorials, question banks and practice tests. This guide points to the UK UCAT resource route.
Use the official practice tests and question banks page for the actual materials. It explains how to review answer rationales and states that the practice tests do not save your result or provide a score. Keep your own learning notes rather than expecting a permanent scored record.
Your next step is to confirm the test required by your intended medical or dental course, then begin with the tutorial before timed practice. If applying to Australia or New Zealand, check the UCAT ANZ preparation route and the university’s current requirements. Living in Singapore does not by itself identify which admissions instructions apply.

Practical checks before you act
Learn the controls before judging your speed
Did you know? An unfamiliar test interface can create a different problem from an unfamiliar question. The tour tutorial explains functions such as navigation, review and the onscreen calculator. Give yourself a session to learn how the tools work before interpreting slow performance as weak reasoning.
Try a simple question while deliberately using the available controls. Notice which actions require searching or repeated clicks. Your first improvement may be a more reliable way to navigate, leaving more attention for the reasoning task itself.
Separate a reasoning error from a rushed decision
After a short practice set, review why each incorrect answer looked attractive. Write one sentence about the error: perhaps you overlooked a condition, misread the question or selected an option before comparing alternatives. This is more useful than recording only the number wrong.
Return to the relevant official tutorial when a question type remains unclear. Then attempt fresh examples and check whether the same error recurs. A practice session should lead to a specific adjustment, not simply another larger set of questions.
Keep a small record of completed practice
The official question-bank page warns that progress is not retained. Record the questions or sets attempted, the date and the reasoning point to revisit. Avoid copying protected question collections into a public document; brief personal notes can track your learning without reproducing the material.
Distinguish first attempts from repeated questions when reviewing improvement. Remembering an answer is not the same as finding it under unfamiliar conditions. Use repeated questions to check understanding, then test that understanding on material you have not just reviewed.
Use timing without turning it into a guarantee
Move from understanding the question type to completing a short set and then to an appropriate timed practice. Review the conditions under which you practised. An interrupted session and an uninterrupted session are not directly comparable observations.
Do not convert the official practice feedback into a claimed admissions outcome. Use it to decide what to practise next. Keep booking, test-day identification and any access arrangements on a separate checklist so that preparation does not crowd out essential administration.
