Did you know? SEAB publishes an authorised distributor list for past years’ question papers. Start there to find legitimate sources for PSLE and GCE examination papers, then check the subject and examination year with the listed publisher.
A past-year paper and a specimen paper are not the same resource. Past-year papers come from earlier examinations; specimen papers illustrate an examination’s assessment format. For current specimen materials, open the relevant examination and syllabus page on SEAB’s website.
Your quickest next step is to record the examination, subject code, level and syllabus year before buying or downloading material. For SEC, begin with the SEC directory and its G1, G2 or G3 syllabus links. Do not label an older O-Level paper as a SEC past-year paper merely because some topics overlap.

Which source answers your question?
| Your question | Start here | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Find authorised past-paper sources | SEAB distributor list | Exam, subject, year and publisher availability |
| Find current syllabus materials | SEAB examination directory | Matching syllabus and any linked specimen materials |
| Check SEC materials | SEAB SEC | G level, subject code, examination year and published resources |
| Clarify purchase availability | SEAB past-paper purchasing FAQ | Authorised publisher route rather than unofficial copies |
Identify the resource before using it
Check whether the material is an official examination paper, a specimen, a school assessment or a publisher-created practice set. Keep that label visible in your revision record.
Each can be useful, but it answers a different question. A practice book’s title alone does not establish that every included question was set in a national examination.
Compare older papers with the current syllabus
Open the syllabus for the examination year you are preparing for. Compare topics, assessed components and format before attempting an older paper under timed conditions.
Ask the teacher which parts remain useful where the syllabus has changed. Topic overlap can support practice without proving that the older paper matches the current assessment exactly.
Check what the publisher supplies
Use SEAB’s listed publisher contacts to ask about the specific subject and year. Its distributor page notes that some GCE papers with small candidature are sold through print-on-demand.
Before purchasing, check the edition and what is included. Do not assume a question-paper publication contains an official marking scheme or every component of the examination.
Turn each paper into a learning check
After an attempt, identify whether errors concern missing content, misunderstood wording, calculation or time management. Choose the next revision task from those patterns.
Keep the current syllabus beside the practice record. The aim is to strengthen assessed skills, not to treat a repeated topic in old papers as a promise about the next examination.
