Three students in school uniforms work through open books at a classroom table, with textbooks and stationery nearby and study notes on the whiteboard behind them.

Where Can I Download the SEC Syllabus for Every Subject? | G1, G2 and G3 Source Guide

Did you know? The official place to download Singapore-Cambridge SEC syllabuses is SEAB. For the 2027 school-candidate examination, choose the G1, G2 or G3 directory, then select the exact subject.

“Every subject” does not mean every subject exists at all three levels. The directories list the available subjects and codes at each level, including languages, Mathematics, Science, humanities, coursework and applied subjects where offered. Match the directory to the student’s actual examination entry.

Before saving a PDF, check four things: examination year, subject level, exact subject title and candidate category. Then read its aims, content and assessment information. The steps below help you download a useful reference rather than a similarly named document for the wrong course.

Find the subject family, then the exact title

For languages, distinguish English, Mother Tongue, Higher Mother Tongue and other listed language subjects. For Mathematics, distinguish Mathematics from Additional Mathematics. For Science, distinguish individual sciences from the specific combined Science pairing.

For humanities, check the exact standalone or combined title. For Art, Music, Design and Technology, Nutrition and Food Science, Computing, Principles of Accounts and applied subjects, use the directory’s named entry. The official lists are the complete reference; this paragraph is a search aid, not a claim that every school offers all those subjects.

Read the syllabus in three passes

First, confirm the cover and identifiers. Second, find the content and assessment sections relevant to your question. Third, record what the student needs to practise next and which details need a teacher’s explanation.

A student seeking help with one topic can begin there. A student organising exam preparation should also review the assessment components. Practical, oral or coursework tasks need their own preparation where specified; a written-paper worksheet cannot stand in for every component.

Connect official expectations to current learning

Ask the school which part of the syllabus is being taught now. Keep its term plan beside the national document. The national syllabus locates the destination; school instructions explain the immediate sequence.

If a task feels unexpectedly difficult, identify whether the issue is understanding, language, recall, method choice or execution. Select practice that addresses that issue and matches the confirmed syllabus. This makes the official document useful beyond a folder full of PDFs.

Check revisions and candidate category

The linked directories are specifically for 2027 school candidates. Use the SEC landing page to locate another year or the private-candidate route. Do not assume a school-candidate subject is available to every private candidate.

SEAB directories can include revised-syllabus specimen resources. Follow those resources where applicable and read the accompanying notes. Keep your downloaded copy named with the year, level and subject so it can be identified later.

Take one question further

The same learning habit can travel across subjects, while each subject keeps its own methods. These routes help you notice a difficulty, understand one part of it, and return to something you can do.

A word is familiar, but using it is difficult.

Move from recognising a word to retrieving it in a new context. Understand vocabulary plateaus.

Try it without the guide: Choose one word you already know. Close the guide and use it in a new sentence. Explain why it fits; try another context tomorrow.

A piece of writing has ideas, but the reader loses the thread.

Make the order of events and the links between sentences clear. Explore composition writing.

Try it without the guide: Choose one short paragraph. Read the relevant explanation, close it, and revise the paragraph. Ask someone to tell you what happened and why.

The Mathematics seems familiar, but marks still disappear.

Find the first point where the working stops being reliable. Find Secondary 4 A-Math mark leakage.

Try it without the guide: For a Secondary 4 A-Math question you have attempted, locate the first uncertain line. Repair that step, then try a comparable question without the worked answer.

A Science fact is remembered, but the explanation is incomplete.

Connect the evidence to a scientific idea and the resulting change. Follow the Primary Science learning route.

Try it without the guide: Choose a familiar Primary Science example. Explain the evidence, the idea and the result without notes. Then change one condition and explain your prediction.

Two accounts of the world seem to disagree.

Check the question, source, date and evidence before combining claims. Explore the World Knowledge research library.

Try it without the guide: Take one claim. Find the source best placed to support it, note its date, and state what remains uncertain. Return to your original question.

There is plenty of help, but independence is hard to see.

Check what the learner can understand and do after support is removed. Understand how education works.

Try it without the guide: Choose one small task the child has practised. Agree on a calm, brief attempt without prompts. Use what happens to choose one next step, then stop.
