Where Can Singapore Students Find Official TOEFL iBT Practice Resources?

Start with ETS’s official TOEFL iBT preparation hub for practice resources, study guidance and links to TOEFL TestReady. Keep ETS’s current test-content page open beside it: that page is your reference for deciding whether a practice resource matches the test you will take.

Check the resource’s task types, instructions and intended test version before starting a long study plan. ETS’s current structure includes sentence-building and email-writing tasks, as well as interview-style speaking. An older book can still contain useful English, but its test simulation may no longer match the current assessment.

Did you know a practice score and an admission result answer different questions? Use practice to identify what to improve. Separately, check the receiving university’s accepted test, overall and section requirements, and score-submission instructions for your course and intake.

How do I choose the right practice resource?

A useful practice session begins with one clear purpose: learning the task, checking an English skill or rehearsing a longer sequence. These purposes need different evidence. A short sample can explain instructions without providing the same experience as a complete practice test.

Check the task, not just the cover

Read the contents and try a sample before relying on a resource. Compare its question types with ETS’s live structure. For example, a writing resource that concentrates only on a legacy essay format should not become your entire preparation plan.

Keep older materials in a separate role if you use them for general reading, vocabulary or listening. Label them as language practice rather than current-format simulation. That small distinction makes it easier to notice what your preparation still needs.

Follow the current official access route

Use the preparation hub to reach the options ETS currently offers. Its resources include a preparation portal and study-planning guidance. ETS’s enhanced-test preparation announcement also distinguishes its official preparation suite from a named partner programme.

Before registering for an optional resource, check whether the particular feature is free or paid, whether an account is needed and what feedback it supplies. Do not assume that every item linked from the same hub has identical access or scoring arrangements.

Turn a result into a small repair task

After practice, write down the task, the difficulty and the next action. Was the problem understanding the instruction, recognising a word in audio, forming a sentence or retrieving an idea quickly? “Practise more English” is much less useful than naming the point that broke down.

Try one targeted correction, then return to a fresh task. Parents can help by asking the student to explain what changed between attempts. The aim is usable understanding, not memorising the answer to a sample already seen.

Keep preparation separate from score policy

For learning continuity, our TOEFL vocabulary teaching guide develops the language-learning side. This source guide simply helps you find and select official preparation; it does not replace a full learning sequence.

For the application decision, use our overseas university English-language requirements guide. A practice estimate is not an official score report, a university’s acceptance of a test version or a promise of an offer.

What is the next useful step?

Open the ETS preparation hub, compare one resource with the current task list, and choose one section to practise. Record one difficulty and one follow-up action. If the university requirement is still unclear, resolve that question before booking a test solely on the strength of a practice result.

Explore the connected learning guides

Choose the question that brought you here. Open one useful guide, try a small task, and stop when you have what you need.

Take one question further

The same learning habit can travel across subjects, while each subject keeps its own methods. These routes help you notice a difficulty, understand one part of it, and return to something you can do.

A word is familiar, but using it is difficult.

Move from recognising a word to retrieving it in a new context. Understand vocabulary plateaus.

Try it without the guide: Choose one word you already know. Close the guide and use it in a new sentence. Explain why it fits; try another context tomorrow.

A piece of writing has ideas, but the reader loses the thread.

Make the order of events and the links between sentences clear. Explore composition writing.

Try it without the guide: Choose one short paragraph. Read the relevant explanation, close it, and revise the paragraph. Ask someone to tell you what happened and why.

The Mathematics seems familiar, but marks still disappear.

Find the first point where the working stops being reliable. Find Secondary 4 A-Math mark leakage.

Try it without the guide: For a Secondary 4 A-Math question you have attempted, locate the first uncertain line. Repair that step, then try a comparable question without the worked answer.

A Science fact is remembered, but the explanation is incomplete.

Connect the evidence to a scientific idea and the resulting change. Follow the Primary Science learning route.

Try it without the guide: Choose a familiar Primary Science example. Explain the evidence, the idea and the result without notes. Then change one condition and explain your prediction.

Two accounts of the world seem to disagree.

Check the question, source, date and evidence before combining claims. Explore the World Knowledge research library.

Try it without the guide: Take one claim. Find the source best placed to support it, note its date, and state what remains uncertain. Return to your original question.

There is plenty of help, but independence is hard to see.

Check what the learner can understand and do after support is removed. Understand how education works.

Try it without the guide: Choose one small task the child has practised. Agree on a calm, brief attempt without prompts. Use what happens to choose one next step, then stop.
