Where Can Singapore Students Find Dutch Numerus Fixus Selection Instructions?

Open Study in NL’s How to apply guide and its “Numerus fixus programmes” section, then use the chosen institution’s own selection page. Numerus fixus means a programme has limited places. The institution confirms whether it applies to your exact course and how selection works.

Check the intended intake and language track before using a deadline. For a concrete example, the University of Amsterdam’s Business Administration Studielink instructions identify its September 2027 intake and a 15 January 2027 registration deadline. Those instructions are programme-specific, not a calendar for every Dutch degree.

Did you know registering in Studielink may be only one application step? Confirm any separate university submission and selection activity. A registration confirmation, a ranking number and an offered place are different messages; read each for the action it actually requires.

What should you check in a numerus fixus application?

Identify the exact programme and language track

Put the institution, course title, language track and entry year at the top of your checklist. Follow the programme’s current selection link rather than assuming a similar course at another university uses the same procedure. Keep a copy of the instructions you are working from.

The UvA Business Administration example asks applicants to select the programme and their preferred language track in Studielink. This illustrates why a broad subject name is not enough. If the route shown does not match your intended study, clarify it before completing further steps.

Track Studielink and the university application separately

Study in NL advises international applicants to check with their institution whether Studielink is required. Use the institution’s instructions to establish the order of submissions. Make separate completion boxes if more than one system is involved.

For its Business Administration route, UvA explains that a Studielink registration is followed by university account information and an application through its own system with educational details and documents. Treat that as an example of a multi-step process, not as proof that another institution has the same portal or sequence.

Distinguish eligibility review from selection tasks

Ask two questions: does the institution consider your qualification eligible, and what must you complete for selection? A document request may concern the first question; a scheduled selection activity may concern the second. Keep both visible so finishing one does not hide the other.

Write down any required activity, how to register for it, and the deadline published for your intake. If the instructions are ambiguous, quote the exact passage when asking admissions. Do not substitute a past applicant’s test format, scoring description or schedule for the institution’s current procedure.

Read ranking and offer messages for the next action

The Study in NL guide explains that selection can produce a ranking number through Studielink and that whether a place is offered depends on the ranking and available places. It also describes the acceptance period for an offered place. A ranking number alone should not be treated as a completed enrolment.

When a message arrives, record whether it is a ranking update or an actual offer, its response deadline and any outstanding conditions. Check the live instructions rather than guessing that a later offer gives unlimited response time. Ask the institution about an unclear status before making assumptions about your place.

Your next step: map the course’s application and selection sequence

Open the programme’s current page and list registration, university submission, selection activity, ranking and offer response as separate tasks where applicable. Mark who publishes each instruction. Confirm the exact deadline and time zone for every action instead of using one date for the whole process.
