Three students in school uniforms work through open books at a classroom table, with textbooks and stationery nearby and study notes on the whiteboard behind them.

Where Can Singapore Students Check Which ESAT Modules to Book?

Start with UAT-UK’s official ESAT guide and the admissions page for each course you intend to apply to. UAT-UK’s module-selection FAQ directs candidates to the university course pages and links to its course list.

The ESAT guide says all candidates take Mathematics 1, while most take two further modules. Some courses specify the combination. If two intended courses have conflicting compulsory requirements, UAT-UK says to contact it before booking. Do not choose modules solely from the subjects you prefer or assume every engineering or science course uses the same set.

Your next step is to write down each course’s exact requirement for the intended entry year and compare the combinations. Only then proceed with booking and the official preparation resources. The provider warns that module choices cannot simply be changed at the test centre.

Practical checks before you act

Build a course-to-module comparison

Did you know? The same applicant can face different module instructions for different courses. Make one row per course with the institution, course title, entry year and required modules. Include a source link and checked date so that the decision can be traced back to the actual instructions.

Use the exact course, not only the university name. A statement about one department does not establish the requirement for every programme at that institution. If a course is absent or the sources appear inconsistent, ask the university before treating the gap as an exemption.

Resolve conflicts before booking

Compare compulsory modules first, then any permitted choices. If one course leaves a choice and another specifies a module, consult UAT-UK’s guidance about combining requirements. Do not improvise a compromise that fails one course’s instructions.

Where compulsory requirements conflict, send the provider a concise question naming both courses and the entry year. Keep the answer with your planning record. This is a case where an administrative clarification is more valuable than immediately doing another practice paper.

Use the right specification for revision

Once the module plan is clear, open the current official specification and mark the topics you need to review. Identify whether a difficulty concerns knowledge, applying a known idea or interpreting the problem. Those problems need different practice responses.

Use specimen materials to learn the question style and test interface. UAT-UK explains that its practice feedback is not a live-test score prediction. Keep a record of reasoning errors and revisit the underlying topic, rather than treating a raw practice percentage as an admissions guarantee.

Review the appointment as carefully as the course list

Before completing a booking, compare the selected modules with your confirmed course record. Review the relevant sitting, location and test-day instructions as separate items. Keep an acknowledgement showing what you booked so that you can check it again well before the appointment.

If a course choice or requirement changes later, read the provider’s current change procedure and ask for advice promptly. Do not expect the centre to replace your module selection on arrival. An accurate booking protects the value of the preparation you have already done.

Take one question further

The same learning habit can travel across subjects, while each subject keeps its own methods. These routes help you notice a difficulty, understand one part of it, and return to something you can do.

A word is familiar, but using it is difficult.

Move from recognising a word to retrieving it in a new context. Understand vocabulary plateaus.

Try it without the guide: Choose one word you already know. Close the guide and use it in a new sentence. Explain why it fits; try another context tomorrow.

A piece of writing has ideas, but the reader loses the thread.

Make the order of events and the links between sentences clear. Explore composition writing.

Try it without the guide: Choose one short paragraph. Read the relevant explanation, close it, and revise the paragraph. Ask someone to tell you what happened and why.

The Mathematics seems familiar, but marks still disappear.

Find the first point where the working stops being reliable. Find Secondary 4 A-Math mark leakage.

Try it without the guide: For a Secondary 4 A-Math question you have attempted, locate the first uncertain line. Repair that step, then try a comparable question without the worked answer.

A Science fact is remembered, but the explanation is incomplete.

Connect the evidence to a scientific idea and the resulting change. Follow the Primary Science learning route.

Try it without the guide: Choose a familiar Primary Science example. Explain the evidence, the idea and the result without notes. Then change one condition and explain your prediction.

Two accounts of the world seem to disagree.

Check the question, source, date and evidence before combining claims. Explore the World Knowledge research library.

Try it without the guide: Take one claim. Find the source best placed to support it, note its date, and state what remains uncertain. Return to your original question.

There is plenty of help, but independence is hard to see.

Check what the learner can understand and do after support is removed. Understand how education works.

Try it without the guide: Choose one small task the child has practised. Agree on a calm, brief attempt without prompts. Use what happens to choose one next step, then stop.
