Where Can I Find Polytechnic Grading and GPA Information in Singapore?

Start with your own polytechnic’s current student handbook or assessment regulations. Singapore Polytechnic publishes a public Grading System and Academic Progression page, while Nanyang Polytechnic publishes its Assessment Regulations online.

Students at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic and Temasek Polytechnic should use the handbook or academic-regulations route supplied by their own institution and cohort. Some material sits inside a student portal, so a public search result or an unofficial GPA calculator may not show the rule that applies to your course.

Check four things immediately: the grade-to-point table, which modules enter the calculation, the difference between semester and cumulative GPA, and the current progression or appeal rules. A GPA is useful only when it is calculated with the right institution’s rules.

Why not use one shared GPA table?

The five polytechnics may use familiar grade-point language, but the controlling rules remain institution-specific. Pass/fail modules, exemptions, repeated modules, distinctions, deferred grades and progression decisions can be handled differently. Use a calculator only after matching every setting to the official handbook.

Where can I see my actual result?

Use the authenticated student portal named by your polytechnic. That record, not a spreadsheet estimate, tells you which modules and credits have been posted. If a result is missing or unexpected, follow the institution’s stated review or appeal route and its deadline.

What should I check in the calculation?

Read the definitions before multiplying anything. Confirm whether the page is showing a semester GPA, cumulative GPA or a course-specific measure. Then check the credit value attached to every graded module and whether non-graded outcomes are included or excluded.

Did you know a correct arithmetic formula can still produce the wrong answer when the wrong modules are entered? Keep the published result slip beside the handbook and record any exemption, withdrawal, repeat or deferred result exactly as the institution describes it.

Does GPA guarantee university admission?

No. GPA can be one part of eligibility or selection, but universities set their own programme requirements and admission processes. Historical admission profiles are useful context, not promises. Check the receiving university’s current admissions page before making a choice.

What should I do next?

Save the handbook page or document version that applies to your cohort, compare it with your official result record, and ask your polytechnic’s academic office about any mismatch. For broader route planning, use the Singapore school pathways calendar and the Singapore schools and institutions directory.
