Where Can I Find Malay Language Elective Programme at JC (MLEP-JC) Information?

Start with the official MOE MLEP-JC page. It is the national source for the programme’s purpose, current eligibility information and participating junior colleges, so it should be your first check before relying on a school open-house slide or an older JAE booklet.

Next, open the prospective college’s official website through MOE SchoolFinder. That is where a family can confirm how MLEP-JC is delivered at that college, how programme selection is handled, and whether the intended Malay subject fits the college’s current subject combinations.

Check the Malay Language Elective Scholarship (MLES) separately. A JC place, a MLEP-JC place, a subject combination and a scholarship outcome are related decisions, but they are not one automatic package.

Quick route

For MLEP-JC: MOE programme page → participating JC page → subject-combination check → scholarship page, if relevant.

Start with the current MLEP-JC owner

MOE’s MLEP-JC page describes a two-year programme in selected junior colleges for students with aptitude and keen interest in Malay language and literature.

Use MOE to identify the current participating colleges and national programme expectations. Then read each shortlisted JC’s page for its actual application or selection steps, teaching approach, enrichment activities and current contact route.

Keep the decisions separate

  1. JC admission: confirm the route and cohort rules on MOE’s post-secondary overview.
  2. Programme selection: check the MLEP-JC eligibility and school-level selection instructions.
  3. Subject combination: verify the exact Malay subject and level with the college; programme availability does not prove that every possible combination is offered.
  4. Scholarship: read the matching MOE scholarship page for its own eligibility, obligations, application window and renewal terms.

This separation prevents a common planning error: treating interest in MLEP-JC as proof of admission, or treating admission to a participating JC as proof of a programme or scholarship place. Each checkpoint needs its own official confirmation.

What should parents and students check now?

Look beyond the programme name and ask how Malay Language and Literature fits the student’s full JC workload. Confirm the subject level and combination with the college instead of assuming that every MLEP-JC college publishes identical combinations.

If the student will enter post-secondary education from 2028, recheck the current admissions route because MOE has announced the Post-Secondary Admissions Exercise for the SEC-era cohort. Do not use a pre-2028 JAE booklet as the final instruction sheet for that intake.

A practical next step

Shortlist the colleges that currently offer MLEP-JC. Save the MOE programme page, the relevant college programme page and the college’s subject-combination document side by side. Write down any mismatch—especially about subject level, selection timing or scholarship status—and ask the college using its official contact details before making choices.
