Start with the official MOE CLEP-JC page. It is the national source for the programme’s purpose, current eligibility information and participating junior colleges, so it should be your first check before relying on a school open-house slide or an older JAE booklet.
Next, open the prospective college’s official website through MOE SchoolFinder. That is where a family can confirm how CLEP-JC is delivered at that college, how programme selection is handled, and whether the intended Chinese subject fits the college’s current subject combinations.
Check the Chinese Language Elective Scholarship (CLES) separately. A JC place, a CLEP-JC place, a subject combination and a scholarship outcome are related decisions, but they are not one automatic package.
Quick route
For CLEP-JC: MOE programme page → participating JC page → subject-combination check → scholarship page, if relevant.
Which official source answers which question?
| Source | Use it for | Check immediately |
|---|---|---|
| MOE CLEP-JC page | National programme purpose, current eligibility information and where it is offered | The intake or cohort named on the page |
| MOE SchoolFinder | Current JC profiles, programmes and official school contact details | Whether the college still lists the programme |
| Chinese Language Elective Scholarship (CLES) | Scholarship eligibility, obligations, application route and current-cycle notices | Citizenship, subject and renewal conditions |
| MOE post-secondary overview | The current JC admission routes and SchoolFinder pathway | Admission route for the student’s cohort |
Start with the current CLEP-JC owner
MOE’s CLEP-JC page was current in 2026 and describes a two-year programme in selected junior colleges for students with aptitude and keen interest in Chinese language and literature.
Read the programme page’s current “where offered” and eligibility sections, then compare them with the intended JC’s own page. For the 2027 intake, especially, use the live list rather than an older booklet because participating arrangements can expand.
Keep the decisions separate
- JC admission: confirm the route and cohort rules on MOE’s post-secondary overview.
- Programme selection: check the CLEP-JC eligibility and school-level selection instructions.
- Subject combination: verify the exact Chinese subject and level with the college; programme availability does not prove that every possible combination is offered.
- Scholarship: read the matching MOE scholarship page for its own eligibility, obligations, application window and renewal terms.
This separation prevents a common planning error: treating interest in CLEP-JC as proof of admission, or treating admission to a participating JC as proof of a programme or scholarship place. Each checkpoint needs its own official confirmation.
What should parents and students check now?
- The student’s entry year and whether the page is describing that exact cohort.
- The current list of participating colleges, including any new delivery or centre-based arrangement.
- The school’s programme selection steps, deadlines and contact channel.
- The required Chinese subject, level and fit with the complete JC subject combination.
- Any scholarship citizenship, academic, conduct, activity and renewal conditions on the current MOE page.
Ask whether the student genuinely wants sustained study of Chinese language, literature and culture, and whether the required language subject fits the rest of the proposed JC combination. A strong interest matters; this is not simply an admission bonus to collect.
If the student will enter post-secondary education from 2028, recheck the current admissions route because MOE has announced the Post-Secondary Admissions Exercise for the SEC-era cohort. Do not use a pre-2028 JAE booklet as the final instruction sheet for that intake.
A practical next step
Shortlist the colleges that currently offer CLEP-JC. Save the MOE programme page, the relevant college programme page and the college’s subject-combination document side by side. Write down any mismatch—especially about subject level, selection timing or scholarship status—and ask the college using its official contact details before making choices.
Use eduKate for orientation, then return to the owner
The JC subject-combination guide explains how H1, H2 and H3 choices fit together. The A-Level syllabus source guide shows where to confirm the examination document for the correct year. For the wider route into JC and beyond, use the Singapore School Pathways & Calendar and the school directory.
