Where Can I Find SST Secondary 1 DSA Admission Information?

Begin at the School of Science and Technology (SST) DSA-Sec admission page. This is the school’s authoritative route for Secondary 1 applications, its selection stages and the relevant cycle. SST states that every Secondary 1 place is admitted through Direct School Admission, not the ordinary Secondary 1 Posting Exercise.

Next, open SST’s selection criteria alongside MOE’s DSA-Sec guidance. Read the entry year on each page: SST’s displayed application window and test dates refer to the 2026 DSA exercise and must not be treated as dates for a future intake.

Did you know? SST also explains a Supplementary Intake Exercise, but only where places remain. Its notice states that no supplementary intake was held for the 2026 Secondary 1 cohort because there were no vacancies. This is an exception-dependent possibility, not an alternative admission guarantee.

Practical checks before you act

What exactly is the Secondary 1 route?

SST is a specialised independent school, so it must not be entered as though it were an ordinary school choice after PSLE. Its school page identifies DSA-Sec as the admission route, while MOE explains the wider exercise, including the consequences of accepting a DSA offer. Families should read both, not only social posts showing a selection camp.

An applicant outside a mainstream MOE primary school needs to follow the official instructions for obtaining the DSA registration number. SST links the appropriate route from its DSA page. Check eligibility, the applicant’s schooling status and every requested document before opening the form.

What does SST assess?

SST publishes STEAM as its talent area. Its criteria refer to academic and cognitive ability, applied-learning aptitude, and interests or motivation. Prior competition medals are not a mandatory universal gate: the school says applicants without previous experience may apply and may be evaluated on potential.

For shortlisted candidates, the described stages include a written problem-solving test and an activity-based STEAM challenge. Tests are not a promise of admission. SST also says external recommendations do not influence selection; avoid anyone offering to secure a place through contacts.

How do I handle old dates and an SIE notice?

The DSA page carries dates for an already completed 2026 exercise. When planning for the next cycle, treat them as examples of the sequence, not an invitation to apply now. The SST admissions office and refreshed DSA webpage are the place to verify any new opening, deadline or invitation.

The supplementary-intake page is especially easy to misread. It sets out reference procedures, but SST explicitly says it did not run SIE for the 2026 Secondary 1 cohort because of zero vacancies. Keep normal MOE school-choice planning on track unless an actual current-year SST notice says an SIE will run.

What should a family compare before committing?

Read the school’s learning approach and ask the child about hands-on STEAM, teamwork, sustained mathematical reasoning and workload. A school programme is not simply a more difficult version of the same subjects. The right application starts with genuine enthusiasm as well as evidence of readiness.

For children interested in other specialist schools, compare their separate requirements rather than transferring SST’s rules. Our NUS High Year 1 admission source guide covers a different Mathematics-and-Science route; the school directory and education pathways helps place both within Singapore’s wider choices.

Your next step

Start a one-page checklist with the child’s entry cohort, eligibility category, official DSA webpage, school talent area and latest application notice. Ask the school directly if the next cycle has not been announced. An invitation or a shortlist is not the same as an admission offer.

For wider context, use the Singapore school pathways and education calendar, then return to the school’s live DSA and selection-criteria pages at the point of application.

The same learning habit can travel across subjects, while each subject keeps its own methods. These routes help you notice a difficulty, understand one part of it, and return to something you can do.

A word is familiar, but using it is difficult.

Move from recognising a word to retrieving it in a new context. Understand vocabulary plateaus.

Try it without the guide: Choose one word you already know. Close the guide and use it in a new sentence. Explain why it fits; try another context tomorrow.

A piece of writing has ideas, but the reader loses the thread.

Make the order of events and the links between sentences clear. Explore composition writing.

Try it without the guide: Choose one short paragraph. Read the relevant explanation, close it, and revise the paragraph. Ask someone to tell you what happened and why.

The Mathematics seems familiar, but marks still disappear.

Find the first point where the working stops being reliable. Find Secondary 4 A-Math mark leakage.

Try it without the guide: For a Secondary 4 A-Math question you have attempted, locate the first uncertain line. Repair that step, then try a comparable question without the worked answer.

A Science fact is remembered, but the explanation is incomplete.

Connect the evidence to a scientific idea and the resulting change. Follow the Primary Science learning route.

Try it without the guide: Choose a familiar Primary Science example. Explain the evidence, the idea and the result without notes. Then change one condition and explain your prediction.

Two accounts of the world seem to disagree.

Check the question, source, date and evidence before combining claims. Explore the World Knowledge research library.

Try it without the guide: Take one claim. Find the source best placed to support it, note its date, and state what remains uncertain. Return to your original question.

There is plenty of help, but independence is hard to see.

Check what the learner can understand and do after support is removed. Understand how education works.

Try it without the guide: Choose one small task the child has practised. Agree on a calm, brief attempt without prompts. Use what happens to choose one next step, then stop.
