How Do I Check School and University Application Deadlines? | Intake Years, Time Zones and Official Sources

Did you know? An application can have several deadlines: submitting the form, supplying documents, registering for a test and replying to an offer. Find the official admissions page for your exact entry year, course and applicant qualification. For Singapore school routes, start with MOE’s post-secondary admissions information or the relevant school-level exercise.

For university applications overseas, use the destination’s application service and the university course page together. For the UK, UCAS’s dates and deadlines page separates entry years and course deadlines. The year you submit an application may be different from the year you begin studying.

Write every deadline with its year, closing time, time zone and required action. Add your school’s internal deadline if it supplies references, plus separate test and scholarship dates. Check what counts as a completed submission, then save the receipt. A date without its conditions is only half the answer.

Choose the entry year before choosing a date

A page headed “2027 entry” describes a course start year. Some of its application milestones occur in 2026. Read the section heading and course listing before copying anything into a calendar.

Likewise, Singapore admission arrangements should be checked for the learner’s actual cohort and qualification. Use our post-SEC admissions explanation when considering the 2028 transition, then return to the current official exercise instructions.

Find the deadline that applies to the exact course

UCAS lists different dates for different undergraduate choices. Its current 2027 calendar places most undergraduate courses at 13 January 2027, 18:00 UK time, while certain courses and universities have an earlier October date. Always check the course listing.

This is why a search result saying “university deadline” is insufficient. On each official course page, identify the applicant route and any additional requirement. A scholarship or admissions test may have a separate schedule that the main application date does not cover.

Record the time zone and the school’s working deadline

Keep the original local deadline beside the Singapore equivalent. Use the date’s correct time-zone conversion, including daylight saving where relevant. Do not use one fixed overseas offset for every month.

If a school prepares your academic reference, ask when it needs your completed information. UCAS advises applicants to follow their school’s internal deadline. Allow practical time for review, reference preparation and submission rather than treating the external closing time as the start of the task.

Check completion and retain evidence

For each deadline, add a plain action: submit application, upload transcript, pay required fee, book test, or accept offer. Read whether the item must merely be sent or actually received by that time.

After submitting, save the confirmation and inspect the official portal for outstanding items. If a date has passed or instructions conflict, ask the admissions office what options remain. Recheck the source before acting; an old screenshot cannot confirm a current vacancy or extension.

The same learning habit can travel across subjects, while each subject keeps its own methods. These routes help you notice a difficulty, understand one part of it, and return to something you can do.

A word is familiar, but using it is difficult.

Move from recognising a word to retrieving it in a new context. Understand vocabulary plateaus.

Try it without the guide: Choose one word you already know. Close the guide and use it in a new sentence. Explain why it fits; try another context tomorrow.

A piece of writing has ideas, but the reader loses the thread.

Make the order of events and the links between sentences clear. Explore composition writing.

Try it without the guide: Choose one short paragraph. Read the relevant explanation, close it, and revise the paragraph. Ask someone to tell you what happened and why.

The Mathematics seems familiar, but marks still disappear.

Find the first point where the working stops being reliable. Find Secondary 4 A-Math mark leakage.

Try it without the guide: For a Secondary 4 A-Math question you have attempted, locate the first uncertain line. Repair that step, then try a comparable question without the worked answer.

A Science fact is remembered, but the explanation is incomplete.

Connect the evidence to a scientific idea and the resulting change. Follow the Primary Science learning route.

Try it without the guide: Choose a familiar Primary Science example. Explain the evidence, the idea and the result without notes. Then change one condition and explain your prediction.

Two accounts of the world seem to disagree.

Try it without the guide: Take one claim. Find the source best placed to support it, note its date, and state what remains uncertain. Return to your original question.

Try it without the guide: Choose one small task the child has practised. Agree on a calm, brief attempt without prompts. Use what happens to choose one next step, then stop.
