The World Library Atlas is an idea for helping readers identify where different kinds of reliable knowledge live: national libraries, archives, universities, museums, specialist databases and public institutions.

  • Find the source most suited to the question.
  • Understand what each collection is strong at.
  • Connect equivalent ideas across different catalogues.
  • Keep provenance and publication context visible.
  • Use public knowledge without pretending every source says the same thing.

The goal is not to copy every library. It is to know which door to open when a question needs authoritative evidence.

The Atlas now has an operating interlibrary wing

The Interlibrary Discovery & Crosswalk Wing turns this atlas from a map of possible source rooms into a staffed discovery route. It checks local holdings first, finds the external collection suited to the question, preserves the source catalogue and provenance, and returns a bounded evidence package to eduKateAI or the calling eduKate owner.

When discovery reveals that the Library itself has a persistent gap, the need passes to the Collections Development, Curation & Acquisitions Wing rather than becoming an automatic new article.
