Edusave & School Financial Assistance Singapore | Accounts, MOE FAS and Support Routes

Edusave and financial assistance are related parts of Singapore’s education-support system, but they are not the same thing. Edusave is an account and award ecosystem for eligible students. The MOE Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) is a means-tested support scheme for financially needy Singaporean students in Government and Government-aided schools. Other schemes—such as Student Care Fee Assistance, school-based support and post-secondary finance—have different owners and rules.

Edusave account: what it is used for

MOE’s Student Finance System lets parents or account holders view Edusave balances and transactions, manage standing orders and authorise eligible Edusave withdrawals. Edusave should therefore be understood as an education-finance account with approved uses, not as cash that can be spent on any education-related purchase.

MOE Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS)

For 2026, MOE’s published FAS criteria state that eligible Singaporean students in Government and Government-aided schools may qualify where monthly gross household income is $4,000 or below, or monthly per-capita income is $1,000 or below. Because financial thresholds and benefits can change, families should treat these as dated current-rule facts and check MOE before applying.

What FAS can support

  • School and/or miscellaneous fees, depending on level and current scheme rules.
  • Textbooks and school attire for eligible school levels.
  • Meal support.
  • Transport support.
  • Pre-university support as specified by the current MOE scheme.

Do not rely on an old benefits table without checking the year. The amount, threshold or benefit design may change even when the scheme name stays the same.

How families should use this page

  • Identify the exact cost or support problem first.
  • Check whether the route is Edusave, MOE FAS, school-based assistance, Student Care support or post-secondary finance.
  • Use the current official portal for eligibility and applications.
  • Keep the year visible whenever quoting thresholds or benefits.
  • If circumstances change, ask the school or responsible agency whether reassessment or appeal routes exist.
