Argument paragraphs become stronger when students do more than state a point and attach an example. A complete analytical chain needs a claim, relevant evidence, an explanation of why the evidence matters, and a limitation or qualification where the evidence does not support an absolute conclusion.

Step One: Make a Claim That Can Be Tested
A strong claim is focused enough to support with evidence.
- avoid vague claims;
- avoid claims broader than the evidence;
- state the relationship clearly;
- match the claim to the question’s scope.
Step Two: Choose Evidence for the Claim
Evidence should be selected because it advances the claim, not because it is memorable.

Step Three: Explain the Relationship
Explanation answers: why does this evidence support this claim?
- identify the relevant feature;
- show cause, contrast or implication;
- connect the example to the broader point;
- avoid simply restating the evidence.
Step Four: State the Limitation Where Needed
Evidence rarely proves every possible version of a claim. A limitation may concern:
- time;
- group;
- context;
- exception;
- counterevidence;
- lack of certainty.
Limitation keeps the paragraph accurate and prepares the writer for counterargument.

The limitation is not required as a mechanical final sentence in every paragraph. It is a reasoning check: how far can this claim safely go?
Avoid Example Lists
Three examples with no explanation do not automatically produce a strong paragraph. Choose the strongest evidence first and spend space explaining it.
Use Counterevidence Productively
If a counterexample appears, the student can:
- narrow the claim;
- state a condition;
- distinguish short-term and long-term effects;
- acknowledge an exception without abandoning the position.
Paragraph Architecture
A useful argumentative paragraph may contain:
- topic claim;
- evidence/example;
- analysis;
- qualification or implication;
- link back to thesis.
The structure should follow the reasoning rather than a rigid memorised number of sentences.

How a 3-Pax Class Trains the Chain
In a maximum three-student group, one learner can test the claim, one can rank evidence, and one can identify the limitation. Students then rotate roles and write individual paragraphs.
