Orchard Primary Science tuition should move a student from knowing facts to using them.
Science becomes harder when a child can remember a term but cannot explain a new situation. The important shift is from recall to reasoning: What is happening? Which concept applies? What evidence supports the explanation? What changes if one condition changes?
This page is for families searching from Orchard. It does not state that eduKate currently operates an Orchard branch. Current class locations and schedules are maintained on the eduKate Singapore Contact page.
Concepts are the base layer
We first make sure the student understands the scientific idea itself. A memorised definition is not enough if the learner cannot recognise the concept in a diagram, experiment or unfamiliar scenario.
Reasoning links knowledge to questions
Students learn to connect observation, concept, mechanism and conclusion. That sequence helps them build answers that are scientifically complete rather than merely keyword-rich.
Application is the real test
Once a concept is understood, we vary the context. The student may see the same principle in a different organism, material, setup or everyday situation. This forces recognition of the underlying Science rather than recognition of a familiar worksheet.
Reading diagrams, tables and experiments
Students are taught to identify what changed, what remained constant, what was observed and what conclusion is justified. They should be able to separate evidence from assumption.
Open-ended answers
We work on precise language and complete causal reasoning. Students should answer the exact question and include the scientific link that explains why the result occurred.
PSLE readiness
Near PSLE, we alternate between repairing weak topics and mixed-paper work. The student must practise deciding which concept a question requires without being told the chapter.
What progress looks like
- fewer memorised but incomplete answers;
- more precise scientific vocabulary;
- better interpretation of experiments and diagrams;
- stronger cause-and-effect explanations;
- better transfer to unfamiliar questions; and
- greater independence in mixed papers.
We do not promise a fixed grade. The goal is a student who can reason with Science rather than simply recite it.
