Knowing a fact is useful. Knowing how it connects to another fact is more powerful. We ask students to explain what causes a change, what depends on what, and what would happen if one part of a system were altered.

Application across new contexts

After a concept is stable, we deliberately change the context. The same scientific principle may appear in a different organism, material, device or experiment. The student must recognise the structure rather than the worksheet.

Diagrams and models

Students learn to treat diagrams as information systems. They identify labels, direction, sequence and relationships before deciding what the diagram means scientifically.

Open-ended explanations

We teach students to connect evidence to concept, concept to mechanism and mechanism to conclusion. This helps answers remain complete even when the question is unfamiliar.

PSLE preparation

Near PSLE, mixed practice becomes increasingly important because students must select the correct concept independently. We continue to repair weak topics, but we also test whether the repaired knowledge survives outside its original chapter.
