Readiness is a decision, not a feeling.
Before launch, teams compare the actual vehicle, crew, weather, ground systems and unresolved issues against agreed conditions for flight.
- Are critical systems ready?
- Are open anomalies understood?
- Does weather remain inside limits?
- Are crew and ground teams prepared?
- Should the mission GO, HOLD, recycle or stand down?
A delay can be a successful decision when it protects the mission from an unacceptable unknown.
